Visit to Nehru Science Centre on 20th November 2010

A visit to IRIS National Science Fair 2010 at Nehru Science Centre , Mumbai was organized for the Students of Class 7 to Class 9 on 20th November 2010.
87 Participants from the country had displayed their projects from various disciplines of science viz-Engineering, Food science, Environmental science, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Bio- Chemistry etc.
Students witnessed excellent science projects put up for the IRIS Intel National Science Fair, 2010 and displayed keen interest in observing each exhibit and asked relevant questions.
Some of the projects displayed at the Exhibition were:
- Surveillance Robot,
- Anti theft ignition off system for cars,
- Pre paid energy meter,
- Herbal dosage for colonial damage,
- Zanthoxylum ovalifolium in anti lice treatment,
- Breathing sensor apparatus for handicaps,
- Universal speed changing mechanism,
- Self regulating research robot,
- Use of chlorophyll in carbon nano tubes to handle environmental changes.
- Detection of food adulteration,
- Flood gates for disaster management. etc.

After the visit to the exhibition, students visited the Science Gallery where a workshop on experiments in chemistry was organized by the Nehru Science Centre for the students. The resource person conducted various experiments to explain the principles of chemistry in a very interesting manner.
Students were then taken for a film show in the amphitheatre titled ‘The Living Sea’ at the Science Odyssey and a 3 D animation show on turtles. Later students were shown a film on Human Body Anatomy and Physiology to understand the various physiological processes in the human body.
Raees Rajwani and Naman Shah of 9C won the special category award (engineering) at the IRIS Intel National Science Fair.

‘Computer Mouse for people with upper limb disabilities’ was the title of the project by Naman and Raees.
