material progress, manifested through
issues of stone quarrying, rock mining,
deforestation and selling of agricultural
land.
- Interaction with Ishani Dutta, a
Media Research Associate with Indian
Institute of Mass Communications and
medium to bring about policy reforms
and implementation.
- Reasons for the Baya/weaver bird
to be listed as an endangered species.
- A very inspiring interaction with
Adventurer Ajeet Bajaj about his expedition
to the North Pole in April 2006 and
to the South Pole on 26th Janurary
2007.
- Privatisation of parts of natural
lakes leading to scarcity of potable
water in the nearby villages.
- Exchange of ideas, views, suggestions,
debates , practical and feasible solutions
to real life problems or situations.
- Each one of us can make a difference,
so take an initiative and be the change
that you want to see.
From the students point of
view.
It was a truly enlightening experience.
The theme Coutryside Calling was just
apt for me as I am a nature lover. The
presentations, adventure trips and activities
created amongst us an awareness about
the difficulties faced by the people
in the villages. I made many friends
from different schools from different
states of India. While leaving I felt
sad but I knew heart of hearts that
while going back I was taking along
a lot of sweet memories to share with
others.
- Shubhangi Dutta.
My experience at the Conference was
amazing. I made many new friends and
became more independent as I had to
do everything on my own. I enjoyed most
of the activities, especially hiking
and camping. I look forward to many
such enriching experiences in the future
as a Round Square Member at DAIS.
- Jinita Shah.
We were lucky to be chosen to represent
DAIS at the RS Sub-Junior Conference.
The fusion of an educational trip with
adventure and fun proved to be an excellent
learning experience. It increased our
awareness about the problems faced by
our planet Earth. The interaction with
many students from different parts of
India and from Dubai helped us make
new friends . The documentaries, presentations,
barazza sessions and other interactive
sessions were interesting. Our trip
was very educative, it made us independent
and responsible. We would like to thank
DAIS for letting us be a part of this
wonderful experience.
- Dhyyey Shah,
Rudra Ramchandran & Aayush Shah.
