Investiture
of new DAIS Student Council - Wednesday 26th
October 2005
On Wednesday 26th October 2005, the new Student
Council 2005 - 2006, the third for DAIS, was
sworn in and the outgoing Council stepped
down. As always on such occasions, the event
evoked mixed emotions of sadness for students
completing their terms, joy and pride for
the new Council members, and intense awareness
of students and faculty alike of the responsibility
borne by the Student Council.
After a brief welcome by the Head of IBD,
the Head Girl and Head Boy 2004 - 2005 spoke
on behalf of the Council, before handing over.
They thanked students, faculty, administration
and the Chairperson for the support they received
during their term. On a personal level, they
expressed gratitude for the opportunity to
gain experience of such important leadership
roles, contribute to the growth of the school
community, and learn and develop greatly as
individuals in the process.
Mrs. Ambani thanked and shook hands with
the departing Council members as they left
the stage, and the new postholders paraded
down the center of the Auditorium, to the
accompaniment of triumphal music. They were
called onto the stage in sequence, first the
Student Council Co-ordinator and Vice Co-ordinator,
then the others by House positions. Mrs. Ambani
congratulated them and awarded badges, and
the House Flags were handed over.
The new Council repeated their solemn vows,
and the Head Girl and Boy made their acceptance
speeches. They expressed their appreciation
of the trust placed in them, thanked the previous
Council for the foundation they had laid,
looked forward to the challenges and opportunities
to contribute, and closed with warm thanks
to students, faculty, administration and Mrs.
Ambani.
Congratulations to them, and no doubt they
will fulfill the responsibilities and help
further consolidate the House system and sense
of community and family within the school.
