The Interest Fair by Classes 3 A and 3 B was held on Saturday 20 January 2007 in the School Auditorium.

An Interest Fair is based on the philosophy that not all kids love science but all kids love something! Like a Science Fair, students create a project, write a paper, design a display, and prepare an oral presentation. But unlike the Science Fair, students may choose any topic that interests them: Geography, crafts, history, authors, inventions, careers, hobbies, sports, etc. The children's topics for their Interest Fair project vary greatly - there are projects of all types - projects about Stem Cells, Robots, Formula 1, Roman Life, Man's First Flight, Water Management, Cricket Pitches, Musical Instruments, Newspapers, Egypt, Art Attack etc. The child chooses an idea that is truly interesting to him/her--that is the motivator. Our Fair is a Family Event and families are encouraged to work together.

There are many advantages to an Interest Fair, because in it there are many more options. An interest fair encourages students to dig deeply into concepts that arouse their curiosity. It is an event that gives participants an opportunity to investigate favourite things and share them with the school community.

It all begins with an initial visit of the parents to the school to familiarize them with the main concepts. Thereafter the flood gates open. Ideas flow back and forth between school and different homes. Ideas take concrete shape and develop into projects where different family members work together, visit places together and thereby produce the final projects.

On the eve of the Interest Fair Day, the projects in its various stages are brought in to the school by the parents to the auditorium, where their children wait eagerly to give their projects the final shape. After an hour or two of hard work, all projects are up for display.

Next comes the real test - to see the involvement of the children in the development of their projects. Each group in turn presents their projects to the class teachers and the Heads while the parents anxiously hover around prompting here and there. All kids go back with their parents vowing to give final touches to their presentations on the actual day.

On the day of the event, the presenters are ready with their talks and are also prepared to answer questions. Every Interest Fair at the school is a learning experience for both the students and teachers involved.

COMMENTS

Fabulous work: esp. Ancient Rome, Hot Air Balloon, Egypt, Saving Water and Ferrari were a few amongst the best! All kids have genuinely taken interest and as always the most interesting way for us to get awareness of what is the interest / hobby of the forthcoming generation - besides the PSPs / X box!

Unbelievable work - I can't believe how good the quality of the projects is and the effort and work the kids and parents have put in.

Great show by all the participants. I am amazed at the effort these kids have put in to make this fair a grand success.

It was absolutely wonderful to see all the kids explaining their projects and subject matter so well. Really interesting! A must see and must visit every year!

Such creativity in their minds, so wonderful. Kids are very confident about their talk. Keep it up.

All the kids have done a fantastic job and they seem to have enjoyed the whole exercise. It's always a pleasure visiting the Interest Fair. The ideas are presented in a very interesting way and the children are very enthusiastic in their presentations. Keep it up.

I learnt something new at every stall. Things that I had taken for granted were brought out in focus. Made me appreciate the world we are living in much more! Wonderful experience.

I was very nervous at first but it was fun. All the stalls were very nice. I had a lot of fun telling visitors about my project.

It was very informative and very impressive to see all the kids put in so much effort and hard work. A good way of keeping up the interaction with the parents and children.

It's been a great exposure for kids and it's been a lot of hard work too. The whole interest fair is very informative and well organized. It would be ideal if it can be made cost effective.

It is an excellent initiative of the school. Thank you. It really helps our kids to learn various concepts in such a short time.

Amazing!! The kids have done a great job. Lots of effort put in by the school management / parents and these little ones - Superb!!

Wow! So much to learn for us each time we come. Thanks. Keep them going.
Amazing work!! It's mind-blowing how boring topics are made so interesting and life-like! Great Experience. I liked the Bee Hive stall the best. It was well presented.

Absolutely fascinating Fair. I have really enjoyed all the projects. My children learnt a lot. Thanks

It is an excellent effort by all children. Very well done and beautifully show cased and projected. The kids have done a wonderful job… I wish I was in their place. We never had an opportunity in our days to show team work, creativity, and excellence. I am impressed with the School and all the children for their effort and excellent projects.
