FAIR 2006 – CLASS 2A & 2B |
The Interest Fair by Classes
2 A and 2 B was held on Saturday 25 November
2006 in the School Auditorium.
An Interest Fair is based on the philosophy
that not all kids love science but all kids
love something! Like a Science Fair, students
create a project, write a paper, design a
display, and prepare an oral presentation.
But unlike the Science Fair, students may
choose any topic that interests them: Geography,
crafts, history, authors, inventions, careers,
hobbies, sports, etc. The children’s
topics for their Interest Fair project vary
greatly, there can be projects of all types
– projects about cats, dogs, space,
laundry, mashed potatoes, rocks and minerals,
fairies, and favourite children’s authors
and or illustrators. The child chooses an
idea that is truly interesting to him/her--that
is the motivator. Our Fair is a Family Event
and families are encouraged to work together.
There are many advantages to an Interest
Fair, because in it there are many more options.
An interest fair encourages students to dig
deeply into concepts that arouse their curiosity.
It is an event that gives participants an
opportunity to investigate favourite things
and share them with the school community.
They can use topics like the history of Mumbai
Island, how commercials are made, lasers,
the hip, and more. The process of creating
Interest Fair projects begins with topic selection
and then follows with a series of deadlines
for bibliography, sketch of tri-folding display
and three-dimensional project, rough draft
of composition, and ends with a completed
presentation.
On the day of the event, the students’
displays are set up in the auditorium. Presenters
are ready with their talks and are also prepared
to answer questions. Every Interest Fair at
the school is a learning experience for both
the students and teachers involved.
