Goa
trip Year IX May 2006
37 Students from year 9 B,
C along with 5 teachers (Ananda, Neelendu,
Manjiri, Malabika, Sree) went to Goa from
16th May 2006 to 19th May 2006 for a geography
course work trip. The purpose of the trip
was to study "landforms as a resource".
Day 1 (16/7)_
Reached the hotel in the evening. After an
hour took the students to the beach to survey
the area that they were going to study
Day 2 (17/7)_
The students studied beach formation and measured
the gradient of the land. We worked from 6
to 8.30.The children had breakfast and a break
of an hour. Then they were asked to sit with
their respective groups and tabulate the data.
After lunch they were given some free time
and we went back to work on the beach by 5.The
children had to carry out a survey interviewing
people using a questionnaire that they had
prepared after lunch. We completed the work
and retuned to the hotel at 7pm.After dinner
the students prepared a presentation on what
they had studied as a group.
Day 3 (18/7)_
In the morning at 6 the students were taken
to the beach to complete whatever work was
remaining. Came back to the hotel by 8.Had
breakfast. One Mr.Almeda came at 9 and gave
the students a talk on history of Goa.We gave
the students some free time after the talk
and then assembled in the conference room
where each group gave a presentation. They
had some free time after lunch and left to
sea a bay and headland and took photographs
of the features. They were then taken on a
river cruise, which they enjoyed thoroughly.
They came back to the hotel and after dinner
they had some free time before retiring to
bed.
Day 4 (19/7)_Morning
was free for the students. Had lunch at 12.30
and left for the airport to catch a flight
to Mumbai, which was delayed by 2 hours.
The students had a lovely time learning geography
in a novel way and they have done a wonderful
job.
