Annual
Day 2005-2006
On 18th and 19th November
2005, the students of Dhirubhai Ambani International
School proudly presented, 'We the
People', for their Annual Day. The
entire student body, the future citizens of
India, threw light on India's glorious past
from the dawn of the Aryans . . . . through
the travails of the freedom movement . . .
. to the zenith of India's Independence at
midnight of 15th August 1947.
Our children breathed life
into heroes and antiheroes, raiders and conquerors,
rulers and slaves to present a vivid, energetic
and interesting perspective of the events
that led to the birth of the Indian Nation.
It was a journey of discovery
which helped our children gain insights into
the blood, sweat, tears and the sacrifices
that brought forth our greatest moment of
joy:
'The emergence of the Secular, Sovereign,
Democratic Republic of India.'
The show began each day with
Ms Nita Ambani, the Chairperson welcoming
the guests and Luminaries. Several freedom
fighters were led on to the stage to be felicitated
by Ms Ambani. Thereafter the lamp was lit
by the freedom fighters and Ms Ambani. The
school Choir sang the School Prayer - Sarasvati
Vandana.
After the brief showing of
the short film, 'The Making of We the People',
the Play began.
As the saying goes, one picture
can replace thousand words. Hence we are now
going to lead you through the play with pictures
of our play.
