The Council for the Indian School Certificate
Examinations was established by the University
of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate
in 1958, with a view to adapting the latter’s
curriculum and examinations systems to cater
to the educational needs of the local context.
The Council's Mission:

Examinations is committed to serving the nation’s
children through high quality educational
endeavours, empowering them to contribute
towards a humane, just and pluralistic society,
promoting introspective living, by creating
exciting learning opportunities, with a commitment
to excellence.
Dhirubhai
Ambani International School offers the Indian
Certificate of Secondary Education Examination
(ICSE) Programme to students in classes IX
and X. The ICSE class VIII at Dhirubhai Ambani
International School serves as a preparatory
year for the ICSE Programme in classes IX
and X.
2. The Indian Certificate of Secondary
Education Examination (ICSE):
- Has been designed to provide an examination
in a course of general education, in accordance
with the recommendations of the New Education
Policy 1986, through the medium of English;
- Will ensure a general education where
all candidates are required to take seven
subjects and are also graded in ‘Socially
Useful Productive Work’;
- Is an all-India board examination that
is taken at the end of class X.
3. Subjects included
in the (ICSE) Programme:
At Dhirubhai Ambani International School,
the following subjects are offered for external
examination at the end of class X:

The
Council encourages a system of continuous
assessment by the school and, therefore, all
the subjects have an internal assessment component
of 20% marks in the form of project work,
while the final written examination accounts
for 80% marks. With respect to the optional
subject chosen from Group III, it is divided
into a Theory paper and a Practical component,
with each being assessed to the extent of
50% marks through internal evaluation and
50% marks by way of external evaluation /
final written examination. ‘Socially
Useful Productive Work’ is graded.
The School also offers Physical Education;
Visual Art, Yoga and other performing arts
including Drama, Indian Music, Western Music,
Indian Dance; and Personal, Social and Health
Education (PSHE).
4. ICSE Results
Building
on the commendable performance of our students
in the previous years, the fourth batch of
our ICSE class X students has achieved outstanding
results in the examinations held in March
2009.
- 9 of our 31 students have scored 95% and
above
- 13 students have scored between 90 and
95%
- 8 students have scored between 80 and
90%
- 1 student has scored between 75 and 80%
- Our topper has scored 96.14%
- The school's average score is 91%
This remarkable success reinforces what
the previous batches of our ICSE class X students
had accomplished - our first batch (year 2006)
had earned an average score of 87%; our second
batch (year 2007) an average score of 88%;
our third batch (year 2008) an average of
91%.
