ICSE Programme

1. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations:

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations was established by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate in 1958, with a view to adapting the latter's curriculum and examinations systems to cater to the educational needs of the local context.

The Council's Mission:
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations is committed to serving the nation's children through high quality educational endeavours, empowering them to contribute towards a humane, just and pluralistic society, promoting introspective living, by creating exciting learning opportunities, with a commitment to excellence.

Dhirubhai Ambani International School offers the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ICSE) Programme to students in classes IX and X. The ICSE class VIII at Dhirubhai Ambani International School serves as a preparatory year for the ICSE Programme in classes IX and X.

2. The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ICSE):

  • Has been designed to provide an examination in a course of general education, in accordance with the recommendations of the New Education Policy 1986, through the medium of English;

  • Will ensure a general education where all candidates are required to take seven subjects and are also graded in 'Socially Useful Productive Work';

  • Is an all-India board examination that is taken at the end of class X.

3. Subjects included in the (ICSE) Programme:

At Dhirubhai Ambani International School, the following subjects are offered for external examination at the end of class X:

Second Language Science

As part of the ICSE programme, students are also required to undertake 'Socially Useful Productive Work'.

The School also offers Physical Education, Visual Art, Yoga and other performing arts including Drama, Indian Music, Western Music, Indian Dance; and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE).

4. ICSE Results


In the board examinations held in 2011, all the 29 students of our sixth batch of ICSE Class X have achieved impressive results:

 
  • 7 students have scored 95% and above

  • 17 students have scored between 90 and 95%

  • 4 students have scored between 85 and 90%

  • Our topper has scored 96.60%

  • Our second highest score is 96.00%

  • Our third highest score is 95.60%

  • The school's average score is 92.41%
 

A significant percentage of our students have scored 91 to 100 marks (Grade 1), compared to the all-India position. The following graph gives a glimpse of our students’ subject-wise performance.
